Feliz en Ecuador!!

The school has provided us with a small, simple but cozy appartment onsite of where the school has its offices..we travel to school each day by bus which takes about 20mins door to door so pretty nice! At the moment we are taking teacher training, planning for school and reading the books and materials etc in preperation for the start of school in September. We are quite excited as we will both teaching at the school, and teaching English as a second language which will be a bit of a challenge but one we are looking forward to, we will also be teaching Social sciences in English..obviously Daniel is experiencing teaching for the first time..and Rhoda has not taught English as a second language before in a school where the other staff are Spanish speaking. Rhoda is so glad now to not only have the teaching degree from University but also to have the TEFL certificate which she took when she was in between jobs in London in the past (God never wastes time!). Rhoda will be teaching children 5-8 year olds and Daniel in the high school (youth 15-18 years old).

We have also already had opportunites to participate in church and we hope these will increase more as we come to know the language even better as this is the only slight barrier to us at the moment..Rhoda has played her violin and Daniel has shared on Sunday mornings.

In our spare time we again enjoy swimming (although here we go to a leisure centre as we are in a city now), beside is a picture of us in the gym at the lesiure centre. We also like going for walks in the local parks. The scenery here is beautiful and from our window and on on way to school everyday we enjoy the views of the mountains, and once at school we can see a snow capped one which looks pretty when it sparkles in the sun.

I can't get over the wonderful city life you two seem to be living! Could you imagine living in a jungle without cars, big buildings, leisure centres, and public busses for another year? It looks like you guys are getting the best of both worlds! The pictures of the mountains and other scenery may rival the beautiful vistas of Belize!

Know you are loved and thought of often!
